Presenters will provide information on the disproportionate rate of burnout and compassion fatigue among lawyers who represent victims of trauma, as well as the signs and symptoms of these conditions. They will teach participants about the efficacy of peer assistance in helping lawyers affected by these conditions, including information regarding about the peer assistance program of the Texas Lawyers’ Assistance Program. The presenters will also offer practical suggestions for how to maintain a practice that sustains their “fitness” under the TDRPC and provides best representation of their clients. Speakers will discuss signs and symptoms of PTSD, resources for help, and very basic Peer Support education.
